Fruits like bananas and melons are also a good source of vitamin B9.

  • Omega 3

Omega-3 fatty acids aid in reducing inflammation and blood pressure, and lowers cholesterol levels. Omega 3 is good fat and is essential for pregnant women’s brain and eye development, and may also help prevent preterm delivery. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in a variety of foods, including fish, nuts, seeds, and plants.

  • Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is also known as cobalamin. It is necessary for blood production and the functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B12 is important for the body, and still or body is unable to create it on its own, therefore, we must rely on food sources and supplements. The deficiency of Vitamin B12 can cause neural tube abnormalities.

  • Food high in mercury

Omega-3 fatty acids are healthy for the body, but the high level of mercury found in some fishes can really harm the baby’s brain development. Therefore, the doctors highly advised that all women who are either pregnant or are trying to conceive should avoid foods high in mercury at least one year prior to conceiving. 

  • Caffeine

Many researchers have stated that pregnant women should not use caffeine. If consumed in limitation, caffeine does not have any side effects on the body; however, people who are addicted to coffee may find it difficult to leave caffeine. Therefore, caffeinated products like coffee and cold drinks should be avoided at all costs to have a heavy and safe pregnancy. 

  • Trans Fats

Trans fats are unhealthy, and so couples trying to conceive should avoid foods with trans fats as it can disturb the flow of nutrients. It may also affect the fertility levels of the person.

  • Consume a healthy breakfast 

A nutritious breakfast can help with the hormonal consequences of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), which is a common cause of infertility. Breakfast should include foods that increase fertility and the right amount of calories intake that will help reduce insulin and testosterone levels in PCOS women.

  • Eat foods rich in antioxidants

Folate and zinc are antioxidants that may benefit both men and women, and it helps to neutralise free radicals in the body, which may harm the quality of sperm and egg cells.

Antioxidants including vitamins C and E, folate, beta carotene, and lutein are abundant in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains. So it shouldn’t harm to eat more of these wholesome foods as part of the endeavour.

  • If diagnosed with PCOS, limit your carb intake

For women with PCOS, it is recommended to follow a low-carbohydrate diet. Several studies have found that controlling carb intake can help control symptoms of PCOS.

Lower-carbohydrate diets can help you maintain a healthy weight, lower insulin levels, and promote fat reduction while also promoting menstrual regularity.

  • Avoid trans fats

It is essential to consume healthy fats on a daily basis in order to improve fertility and general health. Trans fats can be found in margarine, fried foods, processed foods, and baked goods and are typically found in hydrogenated vegetable oils.
