Ovulation Calculator
Knowing when you ovulate is the most useful piece of information when you are trying to conceive. Out of an entire menstrual cycle, there are only about six days when pregnancy is possible, and the two days just before ovulation are the most valuable of all. This ovulation calculator uses the first day of your last period and your average cycle length to estimate your ovulation date. Use these insights to identify your most fertile days and plan intercourse accordingly when trying to conceive.

The ovulation calculator then provides you with the estimated date range, i.e. most fertile window along with other important factors such as next period date, pregnancy test date, expected due date and best days to conceive.
- Enter the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP)
Select the date when your last period started. This is considered Day 1 of your menstrual cycle. - Enter your average menstrual cycle length
Use the – and + buttons to select your usual cycle length in days. For example, if your period typically comes every 28 days, enter 28. - Click “Calculate”
The calculator uses your LMP and average cycle length to estimate your ovulation date and fertile window. - Check your fertile window
If you are trying to conceive, the estimated fertile days can help you identify the period when you are most likely to become pregnant.

When is the
Best time to Conceive?
Best time to Conceive?
Ovulation can be tricky to understand for some women, as one cannot track it without getting familiar with the menstruation cycle. Typically, ovulation occurs in the mid-period cycle and is considered peak fertility days.
The fertile window is known as the best time to conceive a baby. It varies from one woman to another on the basis of the menstrual cycle length. The five days leading up to and the day an egg is released from the ovary are considered a fertile window. Therefore, it is the best time to engage in sexual intercourse to achieve conception.
For the best chance of pregnancy:
- Have intercourse every 1–2 days during the fertile window.
- The 1–2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation are generally the most fertile.
- Use an ovulation calculator to estimate your fertile window based on your last menstrual period and average cycle length.
- If your cycles are irregular, the calculator may be less accurate, so ovulation predictor kits or other fertility tracking methods may be helpful.
Example: For a regular 28-day cycle, ovulation may occur around Day 14, making approximately Days 9–14 a potentially fertile period.

How does the
Menstrual Cycle Work?
Menstrual Cycle Work?
The menstruation cycle begins when a woman starts getting her period. It happens when the uterine lining starts shedding. The period cycle prepares women’s bodies every month for a possible pregnancy in the future. It is said that a typical menstrual cycle lasts between 24 and 38 days.
Generally, one-period cycle duration is somewhere between three to seven days. The flow of menstruation may also vary among women. The menstruation cycle includes four phases:
– Menses: 1-5 days
– Follicular: 6-14 days
– Ovulation: 10-14 days
– Luteal: 15-28 day
The release of an egg or eggs from the ovaries is referred to as “ovulation,” and it typically happens halfway through your menstrual cycle.

Your Fertile Window
Day by Day
Day by Day
Not all fertile days are equal. Research on couples timing intercourse relative to a confirmed ovulation date found that conception effectively only occurred within a six-day interval ending on the day of ovulation, and that the odds climbed steadily across that window.
| Day relative to ovulation | Conception likelihood | What’s happening |
| 5 days before | Low | Sperm can survive this long only in fertile-quality cervical mucus |
| 4 days before | Low–moderate | Mucus is beginning to thin; oestrogen rising |
| 3 days before | Moderate | Sperm survival improving significantly |
| 2 days before | High | Egg-white cervical mucus; sperm reach and wait in the fallopian tube |
| 1 day before | Highest | LH surge under way; sperm already in position |
| Ovulation day | High | Egg released; must be fertilised within 12–24 hours |
| 1 day after | Very low | Egg viability ending or ended |
| 2+ days after | Negligible | Fertile window has closed for this cycle |

for Irregular Periods
for Irregular Periods
If your cycles vary by more than about seven or eight days from month to month, a single predicted ovulation date can not be dependable. To find your fertile window’s start date, subtract 18 from your shortest cycle length over the past six months. To determine the end date, subtract 11 from your longest cycle length.
To illustrate, if your cycle lengths fluctuate between 26 and 34 days, your window of fertility spans from day 8 to day 23. While this range appears broad, it provides an honest assessment by accounting for biological variability instead of relying on misleadingly exact dates.
For irregular cycles, ovulation predictor kits and tracking cervical mucus do the main work, while the calculator simply indicates when you should begin testing. If your monthly patterns fall outside the 21-to-35-day window, vary significantly, or vanish for months, it is time to look deeper.
In India factors like PCOS/PCOD, thyroid issues (often hypothyroidism), and elevated prolactin frequently drive these irregularities. Other common culprits include sharp weight fluctuations, high stress levels, and overtraining.
