Ongoing Twin Pregnancy After Five Failed IUIs and Multiple IVF Attempts

After seven years of secondary infertility, this 34-year-old woman came to Birla Fertility & IVF, Indore, with an extensive history of unsuccessful treatment. She had already undergone five failed IUI cycles and three failed IVF cycles at other centres. Even after starting treatment at Birla Fertility & IVF, the first frozen embryo transfer did not result in pregnancy. Because relatively few embryos were obtained from each retrieval, treatment was planned across two egg-retrieval cycles. Four eggs were retrieved. Three mature oocytes underwent ICSI and two embryos were cryopreserved.

Second Retrieval-February 2026

Six eggs were retrieved, resulting in two Day 5 blastocysts being frozen.

First Frozen Embryo Transfer-April 2026

The first frozen embryo transfer did not result in pregnancy.

Second Frozen Embryo Transfer-June 2026

A 3BB early blastocyst from the first retrieval cycle was used for the subsequent transfer. Laser-assisted hatching was also performed as part of the transfer protocol.
